This completely crowdfunded album has been long awaited; you don’t want to miss the full release! With cover art by Des Moines artist and songwriter Kate Allender (“BanjoKat”), APO/THECARY is a concept album about DEĀ, a figure who can transform into a great-horned owl, perform witchcraft, and is now tasked with rescuing the dying planet of their birth. The eponymous Apothecary was supposed to sell medicine for the masses but is now dilapidated by a cataclysmic natural disaster initiated by climate change. The story and imagery are a vehicle for Gedler’s own emotions about how the healing powers of music and art have been corrupted and devalued by capitalism and technofascism.
